Dr. Stefanie Walter received the Christopher Wormald Prize

The Christopher Wormald Prize is a top international award in the field of thermodynamics and is awarded on the basis of the quality and originality of a doctoral thesis. The prize is only awarded every two years. Dr. Walter received the award for her dissertation “Solvent-induced phase separation in pharmaceutical formulations”.

She investigated the effects of solvents used for the production of pharmaceutical formulations and was able to show that thermodynamics can help to guide the selection of the most suitable solvents for this purpose, resulting in homogeneous products. This work was carried out in close collaboration with Dr. Christian Lübbert and Abbvie Germany. It has been published in five scientific publications.
